How to Save Money on Your Wedding Pictures – Make Your Wedding Photography More Affordable
May 16th
By R. Gajsek
Wedding photographs are treasured as one of the most important keepsakes that chronicle our happiest moment in our life. They capture the essence of a milestone that we’ll remember for years to come. But planning and budgeting may have an effect on how much we spend on our wedding photographs. As we plan for the church service, the hall, the food and decorations our budget may get a little pressure when we get to how we’re going to get pictures done for this special occasion. Do we get an expensive professional photographer or do we get one or two of our friends to act as our “official” photographer?
What if you could enlist a whole army of photographers? You can look to your guests as volunteers for you. Some could be “assigned” to the wedding ceremony. Others could take outdoor pictures at your favorite park and others could record the wedding reception for you. All these people can help you get an enormous supply of wedding pictures for you to choose from for your wedding photo album or scrapbook.
It’s important to organize this well in advance. If it is possible, send your guests an invitation to take pictures along with your main wedding invitations. Ask those who have digital cameras if they could help take pictures. People love to take pictures at weddings. If you feel it is in bad taste to ask people to share their photographs on the invitation itself then you can certainly ask them in the followup email if you asked people to RSVP by email. This is probably the fastest way to get people to respond to your invitation. In your followup email you can specify whether you’d like to borrow the pictures or borrow the digital photo files. Most everybody with a camera would love to help out. Printing hundreds of pictures from your friends can still be more economical than hiring a photographer.
To make your wedding even more memorable to your guests, give them an incentive to take pictures for you on your wedding day. You could offer them a slide show of your wedding on DVD just for participating. There are several slide show programs available for your PC or Mac under 100 dollars that can do this for you. Offer your guest a chance of getting a DVD with their pictures featured in this special presentation video.
Once you’ve done this for your own wedding you can offer to make slide shows for your friends. You can even turn this into a business. The demand for creating slide shows of special events like weddings is getting bigger and bigger. Once you become an expert at using the software to create these slide shows you can quite possibly put one of these slide shows together in just a few hours. Do 3 or 4 of these a day and you’ll have a very good income.
You could advertise in your local newspaper or buy a block of advertising in one of your local flyers that get handed out in coffee shops. Or, you could have a web site that accepts projects online form all over the country. It’s all up to you how big you want your business to be. Anything is possible.
Colorful Weddings – Open up a New Window to Your Guests
May 16th
By Felix Lehmann
Gone are the days when weddings evoked images of pure white. White gowns, white flowers, white lace, white bouquets are now giving way to splashes of color. Colorful weddings are becoming the norm. They not only create a sense of excitement not only for the bride and groom and wedding planner but also give the guests something new and creative to forward to.
Colorful weddings needn’t cost a fortune, although reports that cover big celebrity weddings give you that impression. With a little creativity and innovation and a little hard work a colorful wedding can be held within the constraints of a regular wedding budget. It is very important of course to prioritize and calculate how much you want to spend on each aspect of the wedding. Once this is done you have a base to build on.
Before picking out colors, you need to study environment of the venue. If it is open air then of course any color will do but if the walls of the hall are say brick then obviously choosing bright pink will be a disaster. So to begin with choose the venue and then pick out suitable colors – everything needn’t be in one single shade – a combination of 2 or more colors will break the monotony and bring life into the place.
Five essential elements of any wedding are attire, invitations flowers cake and thank you gifts. Consider each aspect one by one. Firstly attire. The wedding gown can be accentuated with various colors. The bridesmaids and flower girls attire of course can simply splash out color. Since they will be very conspicuous throughout the day their costumes play a very important role in designing the wedding. Secondly – invitations. Your invitation will set the guests mood. Apart from the ribbons and the design also make sure that the print is clear coz you don’t want your guest to develop a squint trying to figure out the date and time of your wedding. So choose the colors wisely. Thirdly – flowers and décor. The beauty of nature is that you cannot outdo its color. So no matter what color theme you choose you will definitely find flowers in various hues and sizes of that color.
So your bouquet and the general décor can be nicely spruced up to look warm and inviting by mixing and matching various shades and types of flowers. Fourthly – the wedding cake. This is simple enough to imagine – sugar icing can be done in any color and any shape so that the cake looks like a part of the decoration. Fifthly – favors or thank you gifts – now make sure that you don’t pile your guests with useless gifts just because you want it to match your theme. But strive to get as much of a balance as possible. Gift wrap and ribbons can add to the colors of the day.
So now your colorful wedding is all set to dazzle your guests. If you have time and can spare the effort and the finance look into color coordinating smaller details like the table cloth, napkins, the ring pillow and maybe even the menu!! Don’t compromise on the food taste and combinations though – we don’t want our guest to turn red and green and blue – there is too much of a good thing after all – even while having colorful weddings!!!!!
Spring 2011 Wedding Gown Preview
May 16th
By Bridget Mora
In case you have not been keeping up with the latest wedding news, the Spring 2011 bridal gown collections have recently debuted. What this means for brides-to-be is that it is now possible to get a glimpse of the styles which will be in vogue for 2011 weddings. With all of the trends, details, and silhouettes, here is the wedding news from Bridal Market.
There is one thing which is instantly noticeable when previewing the Spring 2011 wedding gown collections, which is a shift in the prevalent silhouettes and necklines. Strapless, if it ever went anywhere, is back with a vengeance. There are are just a few stragglers of the one shoulder neckline which has been so hot for the last two bridal seasons. While a few gowns with straps of various kinds (particularly illusion straps) were in evidence, for the most part, strapless once again reigns supreme.
Something else which is a strong trend for 2011 wedding dresses is that the silhouettes of the gowns have gotten slimmer. There were a number of soft sheath dresses on the runways, and far fewer ballgowns than in seasons past. Even at classic designers like Christos, the sheath and the A-line gown were far more common than a full ballgown. The other top silhouette is the trumpet, which remains popular. Another carry over from 2010 is the emphasis on the natural waistline. This trend away from a dropped waist started with the 1950s inspired bridal gowns, and is very strong for 2011. The natural waist is emphasized by sashes, bows, and origami folds in soft materials like organza, especially at Amsale.
If you have been pondering a non-white wedding gown, you will find some options in the Spring 2011 collections. Vera Wang did several gowns in a pale dove gray in translucent materials such as organza and gray tulle. Fashion forward as ever, the Vera Wang collection featured a lot of folding and avant-garde draping, particularly on the skirts. Frothy, drapey, and very unique, these softly colored bridal gowns may be just what the chic bride ordered.
Femininity is a major influence on the 2011 collections. Romantic fabrics like lace, organza, and tulle are much more widely used than shiny materials like silk satin (except at the always glamorous Platinum by Priscilla of Boston, although even their designs were less heavily embellished than in some seasons). Any bride who is looking for a wedding gown which is romantic and feminine will definitely find it. This is not to say that the designs are saccharine; in fact there is still quite a bit of action at the bottoms of the gowns, with asymmetrical gathering, pleating, pulling, and ruching abounding.
There are definitely some fresh new looks in the Spring 2011 wedding gown collections, as well as styles which build upon previous designs. The key words are feminine, fashion-forward, and soft for the upcoming year. Slimmer silhouettes and less shimmer trends away from the “princess bride” look in favor of something more sophisticated. There will certainly be many wonderful wedding dresses from which a 2011 bride can choose.
Champagne Theme Weddings
May 16th
By Bridget Mora
Nothing says “celebration” quite like the pop of Champagne corks! The effervescent beverage has long been a symbol of joy and luxury, which makes it a wonderful part of a wedding celebration. These are some great ideas for planning Champagne theme weddings that will be just as festive and fun and the bubbly itself.
Start your wedding planning with an invitation which embraces the Champagne theme. This is not to say that you need to choose stationery with an image of clinking glasses (a bit too obvious, really), but you can bring out your theme in a more understated fashion. For a modern wedding, a pop art bubble design would be fantastic for the stationery. Or select a more subtle invitation with a blind embossed bunch of grapes on the top. Another idea would be to design a custom invitation which resembles the label on a bottle of your favorite Champagne brand.
Welcome your guests to your Champagne theme wedding with a glass of bubbly as they arrive. The pre-ceremony drink has become a more common trend in recent years, and it is one which guests definitely enjoy. Play up the idea of a festive celebration with your attire. For the bride, an elegant gown with plenty of sparkle and beading will be ideal. Choose crystal bridal jewelry to complement the sparkly gown. Sophisticated crystal bridal jewelry such as long stiletto drop earrings or even a lariet style necklace dripping down the back of a wedding gown with a low cut back would be fabulous. The groom will look dashing in a classic tuxedo. Might as well make your Champagne theme wedding black tie, since it is definitely a theme which will work best for an evening wedding.
You can bring the Champagne theme to your wedding reception in a number of ways. Decorate the hallways of your venue with framed vintage maps of the Champagne region of France to set the stage. As your guests arrive, they can be directed to tables which have Champagne themed names. You could use names of famous labels, such as Dom Perignon, Cristal, and the like, or choose bubbly related terms for your tables. Words like vintage, cuvee, and brut will be fun and maybe even educational.
The glamor and sophistication of Champagne should be your main focus for the rest of the reception décor. Tall vases overflowing with white roses would be stunning for a classic style wedding, or opt for a more contemporary yet equally stylish centerpiece such as submerged orchids. Rent crystal chandeliers to suspend over the dinner tables for even more elegance. Tablecloths in a luxurious fabric like damask will dress the tables in style.
Of course, a fine Champagne is at the heart of a wedding based around the bubbly for a theme. This is no time for a sparkling California wine! Pair the drink with luxurious foods like caviar, fresh ripe berries, and Brie during the cocktail hour. At dinner, serve a complementary still wine along with a French meal. A light cake, such as lemon with raspberry filling will be a wonderful dessert to finish the reception. And for the favors, either give your guests splits of Champagne, if the budget allows, or small boxes of Champagne truffles as their parting gift. It is sure to be a wedding that no one will ever forget!

Another ritual, which is found in almost every community is when the groom brings home his new bride, the groom’s sisters block the entrance to the home and demand money from their brother as a shagun before they let him in.
This is a fun filled and enjoying ritual. So these are some of the fun facts associated with Indian wedding, which makes it exciting and enjoying. And these fun memories are cherished for the years to come.
A Fresh Spring Wedding
Jan 8th
By Bridget Mora
Every year spring feels like a breath of fresh air after a long winter. Just as a winter wedding should feel cozy and rich, a spring wedding should capture the essence of its season by feeling crisp and new. These are some ideas on how to plan a fresh spring wedding that will be just perfect.
Think crisp, fresh, and simple for a spring wedding. Nothing too fussy or overdone is needed. A simple elegance should be the goal. Cheery colors such as yellow and grass green are amazing for the spring, and pair beautifully with neutrals such as pure white and navy blue to create that fresh feeling. There is a reason that the first spring collections in the fashion world, known as either resort or cruise, usually feature an abundance of those colors, and it is because they feel new and clean after the dark and rich colors that are in fashion for the winter months. Using this design for a wedding will make for a beautiful atmosphere that your guests are sure to enjoy.
A great place to begin is with the wedding invitations. White stationery with a spring motif embossed across the top would be lovely. Some ideas for the motifs include a watering can, a tiny bunch of flowers, or a dragonfly. A yellow detail on white paper would be subtle, or go a little brighter with a grass green accent. Navy lettering would be a great alternative to basic black ink – still relatively formal, but with a little personality. A striped envelope lining will tie it all together.
As for the bride and her bridesmaids, crisp fabrics such as silk mikado, shantung, or organza would be ideal for the dresses. A simple strapless gown in a silk white with tailored details would be stunning for the bride. Complete the look with a ribbon edged veil and pearl bridal jewelry. For the bridesmaids, striped dresses would be fantastic in faille or shantung. A toned down version would be an organza dress in a solid color with a contrasting band at the hem and neckline. The navy would be a great accent color on either a pale yellow, grass green, or white knee length bridesmaid dress in an A-line shape. Classic pearl bridal jewelry like a tin cup necklace would be a pretty finishing detail for the bridesmaids.
There are many wonderful flowers which would be gorgeous for a spring wedding. The freshest effect will be created by selecting wedding flowers with clean lines, such as tulips or mini daffodils. A small bouquet of yellow mini daffodils handtied with a green grosgrain ribbon would be just right for the bridesmaids. For the bride, a combination of white tulips, yellow mini daffodils, and a bit of greenery, such as spring green hosta leaves will look as fresh as a spring morning. Keep the size of the bouquets modest and the ribbons simple.
Keeping this same color palette throughout the rest of the wedding will create a harmonious look. White tablecloths banded with wide borders in one of the signature colors will make a crisp background for the tablescape. Or try something more whimsical, such as a woven ribbon table topper in grass green and pale yellow. It is a great way to add character to basic white linens for your reception. Striped napkins and centerpieces in clear or white vessels will be the perfect finishing additions to your fresh spring wedding.
Italian Wedding
Jan 7th
By Catherine James
Although weddings have changed over the years some cultures still like to keep their big day with old rituals and tradition! Italian weddings are one of the cultures that as well as their country they like to keep their weddings traditional. A lot of traditional wedding acts carried out by the Italians are renowned over the world.
The veil that is worn by the bride on her wedding day is one of the traditions that has stemmed back to Italy. The veil suggests that as it covers the bride’s face they have never ‘known’ a man before which represents the purity of the woman, that they are still a virgin.
Other Italian traditions that we still see today at weddings across the world are diamond engagement rings – said to be made by the “flames of love”.
If the bride and groom want to stick to true Italian wedding tradition they will have their ceremony in the morning. Usually this happens so that after the married couple have united and said their vows they can spend some time together. Whilst this is happening friends and family will then take time to prepare for the afternoon celebrations.
The bride and groom will usually want to display their love and affection for each other. This can be demonstrated in various ways but the most modern way is the release of a pair of white doves.
Once the reception fun and activities begin this tends to go on until early hours of the morning, sometimes even after the bride and groom have left. The food served is plentiful and it often starts with antipasto – olives, salami, stuffed mushrooms to name but a few. This can be followed by anything up to another 12 courses so guests are kept happy and well fed.
Symbolic foods at an Italian wedding celebration because they bring good tidings include twists of fried dough, powdered with sugar known as wanda, and Italian wedding candy.
A bag is usually circulated around to the guests and is known as the ‘La Borsa’ so money can be collected. Typically the money is then given to the bride’s family to help cover the great costs of the wedding.
Once the majority of the eating has done then it is time for guests to burn off some calories and dance the night away. The traditional dance for Italian weddings is a dance called the Tarantella. It is formed in a circular shape and everyone of all ages takes part. As you can imagine this can get a little comical but all the guests have a good time and it is a fantastic way to get people up on their feet. It starts off by the bride and groom having their first dance and then both families will then come in join in. And once this has happened it is a free for all.
The whole day of at an Italian wedding is a joyous occasion and it memorable for all especially the bride and groom.
Capture The Memories Of Your Wedding With Creative Wedding Photography
Dec 17th
By Michelle Bery
When it comes to your wedding, no detail goes unnoticed; everything from the dress to the food to the flowers comes under careful scrutinizing as you work to create the wedding of your dreams. And when the day has passed and you are left with your memories of it, nothing helps to bring you back to that special day like the photographs bound into a keepsake album and available at any moment to whisk you back to the day you said “I do.” Modern brides and grooms, however, often will not settle for the traditional wedding photography that graced the weddings of yesteryear. Instead, today’s savvy couples expect creative wedding photography to capture their day.
Creative wedding photography really amounts to taking the traditional and adding your own special twist. Photographers have long had great reserves of talent and creativity to draw upon; but traditional wedding photography was stifled by formally posed pictures and cookie cutter expectations. However, today’s photographers – given the freedom by the couples that hire them – are able to infuse their own creative style into all the wedding shots they capture. Gone are the days of stiffly held poses and unflattering angles. Today’s creative wedding photography captures the unique personality of each wedding and the joy with which couples and their loved ones celebrate this special day.
Ultimately creative wedding photography is all about the couples deciding what works for their particular situation. You may wish to have your wedding captured with all candid shots or a combination of candid and formally posed; you may wish to have some black-and-white pictures taken; or perhaps you’ve seen the wedding albums of someone else who has gotten married and aspire to mirror that same photography. No matter what you are looking for in order to capture and tell the story of your wedding, a photographer is out there who will get the job done.
Word-of-mouth is the most efficient way to find a professional skilled in creative wedding photography. Ask around and talk to friends whose weddings you admired. The Internet has also opened up a whole new world for photographers and the consumers who are seeking their services. You can literally walk through a gallery of photographs in each photographer’s site to decide if their style fits your needs. Finally, meet in person with someone you are looking to hire. Your photographer is going to be right alongside you the entire day of your wedding; you want to be with someone you like and with whom you are comfortable.
Creative wedding photography really comes down to each couple deciding what they want to tell their own story. These will be the photographs you share with your children and grandchildren – the photographs that will tell the story of your wedding long after you are gone. Choose your photographer wisely and stay true to your personal idea of creative wedding photography.
Wedding Checklist Photography – Wedding Planning Tips
Dec 17th
By Jennifer Walter
The photographer you choose should be highly experienced in this job. Because while are enjoying this special occasion he is the one capturing it all with his lens. So photography is a must have piece on your wedding planning check list.
You should lay it out to your photographer that what according to you would be most vital moments or what exactly would like to be documented. Add if you plan to have video recordings of the proceeding then both the coordination should be in sync.
Include photography in the wedding checklist
All things need to be discussed elaborately with the photographer and an outline must be given as to what pictures you want more taken or less captured. It is common that pictures of the groom & bride are taken separately before the wedding day arrives. So the photographer needs to be given exact dates when he can come over and take these pictures also the photographer should inform you prior to his arrival so that you are dressed up precisely to occasion.
This synchronization of timings will be fitting to derive desired results. Keep the list of demands within acceptable limits or else the photographer could get bogged down with such demand and lose the plot altogether, all the same a professional should be used to such demands from customers and therefore should not be fussy at all.
Pre wedding pictures, then wedding ceremony pictures, pre-wedding pictures, post wedding pictures, photos before and post the wedding receptions and on the arrival and while leaving pictures of the groom and the bride, all the form the basis of wedding photography checklist. Names of important people in your wedding whose photos should be taken should be chalked down and handed over to the photographer.
A full family photo of all the aunts, uncles, cousins and relatives should be arranged at a convenient time suitable to all. As a personal advise I would say that give freedom to the photographer so he can show his creativity in some areas where the light and the background make positioning quite important.
Wedding Posing Guide
Suppose the facility has a garden or water fall then have the photographer click some pictures of the two of in bright sunshine for better effects. When the light is beaming from a side angle or over the head that’s when the effects are the best. Severe light coming from where the photographer is positioned will wash out your pictures. If you can arrange for some photos to be taken at your favorite meeting place or at a theme park then that too will be a good idea. Forget all stressed up matters while posing as pictures should look natural and fresh. Anything natural is appealing and the same goes you’re your photos as well.
Wedding Picture Guide
Some pictures are a must in the album. So make a list of those pictures that you would like to frame up or would like to see again and again. Like a prime photo of the bride wearing an elegant evening gown or the groom sitting besides the bride, the full family photo of the bride’s and the groom’s side standing side by side. Close up of your exclusive wedding cake and bouquet is also sought after photos selection.
Clearly you both will be the ones who will decide what photos are taken and of whom. So, anyways any relation formed is healthy and if you can communicate well with your photographer then that’s just about perfect.
What to Look For in a Wedding Videographer!
Dec 8th
By Juhlin Youlein
Have you chosen a Professional Wedding Videographer yet for your Wedding? Finding a Professional one can be difficult and perplexing.
Your special day is coming up very fast! And really the last thing you need to fret about is whether or not you have hired the right Professional Wedding Videographer to capture the memories of your Wedding day.
First, start out by checking out their website and watching some of their demos. If they have no demos available to view online that is a BIG red flag! Only choose a Professional Wedding Videographer who has demos on their website. That is very important! This allows you to see what the Videographers style is!
Make sure that your Professional Wedding Videographer makes your DVD with DVD authoring. If your Videographer provides this service, the final film of your Wedding day should look like a Hollywood Style film with menus and chapters. This is a lot more than just transferring footage to DVD and takes a lot more time; so make sure that your Videographer does this. It takes it from home-style movie to Hollywood Style! This is also very important!
Here are a few other questions you should ask yourself when choosing your Professional Wedding Videographer:
1. Is the Wedding Videographer knowledgeable?
2. Is the Wedding Videographer professional?
3. Was the Wedding Videographer able to answer your all your questions and did they answer you back (if conversing in email) in a timely manner (This will show their level of Professionalism)?
4. And most importantly; does the Wedding Videographers services validate their product(s)?
If the Wedding Videographer is professional then they should be accustomed with all the Wedding Industries products and terminology.
The Wedding Videographer should also be able to explain in detail the services they are providing for you and your Spouse on your Wedding day.
If the Wedding Videographer doesn’t have enough demos on their website to satisfy you, then ask them to mail you another demo to watch at home. Most professional Wedding Videographers will be happy to accommodate you and send you one free of charge.
If the Wedding Videographer has enough to watch on their website then make to watch them thoroughly online and remember these key things:
1) Web quality is always worse than what your Wedding day DVD will be. This is because websites with videos are made specifically for allowing the video to download quickly for the viewer. Because of this, the quality of the video must go down in order for the downloading speed on the Internet to be fast. So don’t judge the clarity by the online footage. If you want to see an example of how clear your film will look just ask the Wedding Videographer to send you a demo and that will allow you to really see the clarity and the quality.
2) Was the camera person/ Wedding Videographer creative with their shots and were they steady? Watch for that, creativity is key to having a beautiful Wedding DVD!
3) Sound quality of the songs. Did everything sound good?
4) Color, was the color vibrant. This will tell you if the camcorder that the Wedding Videographer is using is good quality or not!
Another thing to consider is making sure that the Wedding Videographer offers for you to call at a later date and request additional copies. If they say “Yes!” that is a good sign, meaning that they achieve all their footage properly and this will also show their Professionalism!
Everyone’s Wedding day is so different and unique! It is a once in a life time moment that can never be repeated or recaptured so make sure when choosing your Wedding Videographer you only go for the best! Don’t get a cheap service because in the end, that’s what your film will be, cheap. Don’t cut corners! Your Wedding day is special and deserves that best of the best. You want to remember is always in beautiful clarity! Good luck on planning your wonderful Wedding day!
